Our Opportunity
The Project Development Manager position will be based in our Arlington, VA headquarters or can be remote only if located in WV or KY. In this role, you will manage a portfolio of renewable energy projects in the US. The ideal candidate will have a strong knowledge of the solar industry and solar project development, from real estate to local permitting. A key requirement would be a track record of bringing solar projects from origination, through development, to NTP. A broad understanding of county zoning practices and solar energy is a necessity. Prior project development experience is required.
In this role, you will lead community and client relationships throughout the development process, and you’ll work together with our internal teams at every stage to help us successfully get our projects across the finish line. Responsibilities
- Research all required permits for selected sites, coordinate with local consultants and attorneys to prepare and submit permit applications and other filings.

Principal Duties & Responsibilities
- Manage the Request for Proposal (RFP) process, when applicable, for solar power generation equipment (including but not limited to solar panels/modules, transformers, trackers/racking, inverters, balance-of-system (AC and DC), switchgear); analyze bid results and compile bid evaluations.
- Lead analysis and evaluation of supplier product options and make recommendations for supplier and product selections, including quantifying and managing contractual risk with suppliers.
- Negotiate and manage power generation equipment and service transactions for solar projects; manage the interdisciplinary team across legal, finance, development, operations, technical and other personnel.
- Negotiate and execute master agreements and purchase orders in support of company projects.

- Maintain the necessary technical and administrative infrastructure to manage historical pricing across all projects and technologies; create forward-looking reports projecting price and technology improvements for all major generation equipment.
- Assist with the project’s financial close process, including providing copies of requested contracts (and exhibits) and compiling responses from OEMs and/or interdisciplinary teams to independent engineering (IE) questions.
- Assist with the management of inventory and allocation of safe harbor inventory (e.g., solar panels, transformers, inverters, racking, other equipment) procured by Energix for qualification of projects pursuant to the Investment Tax Credit (ITC).
- Develop and implement strong supplier development and supplier relationship management processes.
- Monitor and evaluate the risk of geopolitical and regulatory initiatives that impact the supply chain and develop the mitigation and/or contingency procurement strategies.
- Synthesis market intelligence with internally gathered intelligence to perform forecasts for major equipment.
- Facilitate the execution of Non-Disclosure Agreements (NDA) with prospective suppliers/partners and Memorandums of Understanding (MOU) with OEMs.
Qualifications & Experience
- Minimum of seven (7) years of related experience; experience in renewable energy project development and/or the energy industry is a plus.
- BS in STEM or MBA, or significant experience in technical procurement.

The Senior Substation Project Manager will be responsible for coordinating the design, construction, and maintenance of substations with subcontractors for utility scale Solar PV and Battery Energy System projects. This position will work closely with electrical engineers, designers, O&M team, construction team and other disciplines.

A senior substation project manager is anticipated to have the following duties and responsibilities:
- Create bid documents for new substation builds.
- Manage subcontractor in charge of designing and constructing substation.
- Manage procurement timeline and verify specifications for owner provided equipment.
- Create an internal drawing base for typical substation layout, protection, and equipment spec that can be replicated for similar projects.
- Manage subcontractors performing maintenance on existing substations.

- Monitor a spare parts inventory to ensure substation availability.
- Provide quality control on internal and subcontractor engineering submittals.
- Manage substation, owner, PJM, and transmission operator commissioning processes.
- Coordinate design items with SCADA, transmission operator, control room and other stakeholders required to operate the solar sites.

Primary Responsibilities
- Designs and implements programs to enhance health and safety protocols at all locations, helping the company to lower its overall risk and continuously improve safety performance.
- Monitors, analyzes and reports enterprise wide HSE (Health, Safety and Environmental) metrics including leading and lagging HSE metrics results. Implements programs designed to focus on continuous improvement of these metrics.

- Manages the identification, development, communication and implementation of training and education efforts on a variety of safety, health and environmental topics.
- Conducts onsite audits and site risk assessments and provides guidance on control measures driving closure of resulting Corrective Action Plans.

Education and/or Experience
Degree with direct correlation to safety or risk management is preferred. Equivalent experience may be substituted for the degree requirement on a year for year basis in addition to the standard experience requirement.
- Must have at least 5 years’ of progressively responsible experience with demonstrated expertise in health and safety. Experience should include implementing and managing HSE programs at a corporate or regional level.
